Victory of St. Joan of Arc

2014 – 2015 / Oil on linen / 120 x 160 x 2,5 cm

This work is inspired by the great mystery and history of Le Mont St. Michel. During the Hundred Years’ War (1337-1453 CE) the Kingdom of England made repeated assaults on the island but were unable to seize it due to the abbey’s strong fortifications and the unfavorable tide.

Joan of Arc heard about the island’s stand against the English, and became very inspired to help recapture France from the English. The works are also inspired and celebrate how one person can achieve such a change. In this work the celebration of the victory of St. Joan of Arc.
