Contemplation in Slangenburg

The series ‘Contemplation in Slangenburg’ is inspired by the woods surrounding the estate of the guest house ‘Slangenburg’ (Doetinchem, The Netherlands) and the abbey ‘Sint-Willibrordsabdij’ (Doetinchem, The Netherlands).

The guest house ‘Slangenburg’ is a place to contemplate, to find inner peace and to enjoy nature. The abbey also shares a long history with the guest house. Robert thinks these moments of contemplation and reflection are of great importance to create inner space and peace to be able to grow and develop as a person. The paintings transmit the silence of these places and how this can clear your mind and give direction through regained inner space. His documentation and observations form the starting point of this series.
